Fantasy football is the greatest thing to happen to NFL football fans, since the games started being on TV.
In essence, fantasy football allows participants to manage a "fantasy" team made up of NFL players that were hand-picked, by the participant.
This is the closest most people will ever get to being involved with managing an NFL team, and although it is just "fantasy",
it has brought a new level of enjoyment to NFL football fans around the world.
Before each NFL season, participants study the NFL players and prepare to select their player in the annual fantasy football draft.
Tons of fantasy football magazines and websites are available to assist in determining which NFL players have "fantasy value".
Once the fantasy team is selected, the participants decide which of their "drafted" players will start and which ones will sit the bench.
Whatever production the NFL player has during that week, it is translated into points for which ever fantasy teams opted to start him.
The total number of points that a fantasy team earns is compared to the fantasy team they are playing against in that week to determine a winner.
Based upon the number of wins a fantasy team has it may be good enough to make the fantasy playoffs and championship game, which in some leagues rewards participants with cash or prizes.
